Sham, SCI-DHT, and SCI-E2 rats all showed significant elevations in phrenic amplitude relative to BL by 60 min post AIH (i.e., pLTF). However, SCI-placebo and SCI-DHT treated rats showed significant reductions in VCO2 during respiratory challenge compared to BL. VCO2 was quantified during BL and Max respiratory challenge to determine if steroid hormone supplementation influenced CO2 production (A).
